In 2004, chef and culinary genius, Scott Moritz developed an incredibly flavorful habanero sauce under the quirky name, Secret Aardvark, and began selling bottles of them at Portland farmers markets.
In 2009, with a knack for business and a determination to keep her husband’s hot sauce legacy alive, Stacy Moritz got busy marketing Secret Aardvark hot sauce to a larger audience and eventually developing new “Scott-worthy” flavors such as Drunken Jerk, Red Scorpion and Serrabanero Green Hot Sauce, to name a few.
“Food sometimes takes itself too seriously,” Stacy says, “and we believe food should be fun.”
Part of Scott Moritz’s success in the kitchen (and in life) was his willingness to do the unexpected, and that’s the spirit that Stacy and others at Secret Aardvark continue to embrace.
Secret Aardvark sauces can be found in over 5,000 roadhouses, eateries, and groceries across the nation. Some flavors are sophisticated and classic, while others are fun and unexpected.
