For those of us who must stick to the path of gluten-free foods and drink, even when we are wanting to enjoy a delicious, well-crafted beer, Bierly Brewing of McMinnville has a lineup that is all gluten-free, made in a dedicated gluten-free facility.
Owners John Paul “JP” and Amanda Bierly craft their brews using traditional styles, making Felix Pilsner, Lucky IPA, Rendezvous Double IPA, Baker Street Porter, Blackbird Stout, and a variety of seasonals, all of which are available at all Market of Choice locations.
Family-owned since 2016, Bierly Brewing has its roots in JP’s home brewing with gluten-free ingredients as far back as 2006. He wasn’t diagnosed with gluten intolerance, or celiac disease, until 2010, but by then he was well on his way in understanding the right ingredients to produce Bierly’s gluten-free beers.
Following an internship with Heater Allen Brewing in McMinnville, JP launched Bierly Brewing, first inside the Eats & Treats Café in Philomath, then moving to McMinnville in 2018. That’s when Amanda came on board as a business partner and the tasting room chef.
The parents of two young children, JP and Amanda balance their work life and family life with a full commitment, even throughout the pandemic and the busy times of renovating their historic building site in downtown McMinnville, completed in 2021.
Still a small company, Bierly Brewing self-distributes its brews throughout Oregon, and Market of Choice is a welcome partner in stocking Bierly’s offerings.
“We love partnering with Market of Choice because they value small local businesses like Bierly Brewing and they share their excitement about our products with their customers,” JP says.
Bierly Brewing’s craft brews are best enjoyed cold, JP advises. “Our goal is to offer a product that is effortlessly enjoyable by everyone, whether they are gluten-free or not.”
And if you didn’t know, Bierly could not be a more apt last name for the dedicated craft-brewing couple. “Bier” in German is beer.
