Naturally fermented and boldly flavored, Blue Bus Cultured Foods’ sauerkrauts are guaranteed to knock your socks off!
Owners Kristin and Colin Franger have been experimenting with their own adventurous tastebuds in their home kitchen for years. In 2014, they took the leap to launch Blue Bus Cultured Foods, naming their business for their beloved 1973 Volkswagen bus, their faithful vehicle on numerous camping trips in their younger days.
Kristin and Colin have perfected their sauerkraut recipes for maximum crunch and unique flavor. They offer a delicious line-up – all certified organic, gluten-free, vegan, paleo, raw and probiotic – including Classic, Lemon Garlic Dill and Kraut-Chi, an inspired combination of sauerkraut and kimchi.
These krauts make versatile cooking ingredients, too, adding flavor and oomph! Try making Grilled Salmon & Turnips Salad with Lemon Garlic Dill Kraut or Pork Belly and Kraut-Chi Noodle Bowls. Yum! “There are so many ways to eat our sauerkrauts,” Kristin says.
Blue Bus Cultured Foods is based in Bingen, Washington, and sources its ingredients from local organic farms, whenever possible, and sources its herbs and spices from a local purveyor.
“We firmly believe that healthy food cultivates healthy individuals, which helps to create healthy families and healthy communities,” says Kristin, who has two young children with Colin. “We have built our business on this foundation, with our words but also with our actions.”
Relatively new to Market of Choice and our customers, Blue Bus Cultured Foods is excited to grow their family-owned business, Kristin says. “We are so grateful to be a part of the MOC team.”
