In 2016 Debbie Hendrickx took a break from her corporate fashion retail career to sell gelato for dogs from her cute orange cart at the local dog park. Hendrickx intended to return to corporate life once summer came to an end, but when the time came, she couldn’t pull herself away from the budding gelato business. Recognizing her “now or never” moment, Hendrickx decided to go all in and the demand for her gelato swelled. When the business grew beyond what she could contain in her kitchen, Hendrickx sold her home and bought a factory near the Columbia River where she and her team of Swell sisters produce gelatos in 5 flavors along with 3 varieties of gourmet meal toppers.
Swell Gelato for dogs is a coconut milk-based artisan treat made with natural ingredients in a simple-production process. The act of licking from the cup is soothing, and the taste of Swell Gelato is as delicious to dogs as it would be if it were made for humans. It is best enjoyed when licked straight from the cup during family ice cream night.
